boo blah cha cha cha

yesterday we had a serious thunderstorm.
it was absolutely terrifying.
i haven't been that scared of thunder since i was a kid.
i remember going to the grocery store with my dad
and telling him i was too scared to get out of the car
because the thunder was so loud.
he told me i didn't need to be scared.
thunder just meant the angels in heaven were bowling.
a big crack meant they got a strike.
dad's are the best.

other than being a big baby,
i hung out with my baby.
she rolled over from her belly to her back
and gagged herself with her hands.
we watched a movie with subtitles
and ate at least seven times.
i read a bit from mindy's book
and perused my better homes & gardens.
i washed my dishes and made leftovers for dinner.

today has been slow and wonderful.
happy friday.

april 17.

oh my papa.
my dear, sweet papa.
thank you for always loving me.
for believing in me.
for pushing myself to be better than i ever thought i could.
thank you for rocking me when i'm sad
and singing "you are my sunshine" to make me smile.
thank you for constantly telling me
i am never too old to be your little girl.
and for understanding
that even though i have cory now,
you will always be my daddy and my hero.
always.

happy birthday, papa.
i love you.

heart smiles.

after two weeks in the big apple,
my mama came home on sunday.
she and daddy drove like this the entire way home.
the house feels whole.
christmas can begin.
my mami is home.

holidays roxxor my boxxors.

freshly made beds
and a spotless room.
reading by the warmth and light of the sun
instead of shivering in my basement apartment.
pictures taken too soon
and mass texted to everyone in the family.
photographic evidence of my strange
straw protecting habits.
spending serious quality time
with my favorite baby sister.
after three days away,
everything looks beautiful.
even pit-stop gas stations.

i love mini-cations.
batteries are recharged.
life is discussed.
plans are created.
dreams are analyzed.
hope is given.
nothing beats road trip chats with my papa.
life.is.beautiful.

clearly the "c" in c-ville stands for classy.

the night before the wedding,
i helped my dad set up for rotary.
as we rolled out giant tables and arranged the blue tablecloths,
i told him i felt legit.
there's something about being inside city hall after hours
that makes a person feel straight up gangster.
this time has been locked in my brain as my favorite set up session.
there's nothing i love more
than one-on-one chats with my papa.
except maybe discovering how the city promotes water week.
can someone please explain
how we get cell phones and hamburgers
from a fountain of water?

this wreath was my personal favorite.
proudly hanging on an employee's office door
seven months after the holiday season has passed.
because nothing says,
"merry christmas" or "peace on earth"
like shot gun shells and camoflague.

the facts are these.

1. i am officially old.  i just can't go to midnight showings and be in the office at eight the next same morning like i used to. it's impossible.
 2. i'm pretty sure there is a dog living in the apartment above mine.  i keep hearing these strange puppy cries and yawn-ish whines.
3. despite their best efforts to teach me to finish my homework before having fun, i ignored my parents last night and left for the movie with only half of my homework done. {five bucks says i'll get a call from one, or both, of them asking me why i didn't finish my homework before i left.  mami will tell me i need sleep so i don't age prematurely and dad will either say "choices....consequences..." or ask if it was worth it}.
4. last night {well, technically, i guess it was this morning} beth and i gchatted and all i could talk about was how i wanted one blonde haired, blue eyed cherub and a mutant baby. unfortunately, due to my dominant genetics, neither of those will be possible.

chronological order.

[10:13 am]
every member of my family came to wake me up one at a time.
ashley came to steal my pizzle to play games.
mom clawed scratched my back lovingly.
james yelled my name.
dad bounced my bed and screamed "earthquake!!"
it was like the ultimate high school flashback.
[11:07 am]
ash had a regional basketball game.
they dominated 36 - 10 with only five girls.
while they dominated on the court we had a gangsta photoshoot.
mom did not approve.
instead of flashing gang signs for fear of being hunted down and jumped,
she went with the always classy miss america wave.
[11:41 am]
at this point in the game we started yelling out things like,
"get a touchdown!" "gooooaallll!" "get it in the pipes!"
"come on!! give us a hat trick!" and "homerun!"
we were definitely the loudest people there.
[11:57 am]
jamie introduced me to our new best friend.
it's like a cross between Jesus and Joseph Smith.
weird.
[12:03 am]
while ashley and i waited outside for mom, dad and james to stop socializing,
a father of a girl on the other team came out, congratulated ashley and said,
"you guys did great. you'll probably take it all."
to which she laughed and said, "we can only hope."
what the cocky?!
[12:07 pm]
the "adults" stopped talking and we headed home.
dad told me to never get old because getting old sucks.
jamie and i started singing cute is what we aim for songs.
[12:13pm]
ashley dominated at wii bowing
and james cleaned out at wii golf.
dad did pretty well on solitaire.
i love my house on saturday mornings.

straight as a rainbow.

when i went home yesterday
my dad said he wanted to see a movie this weekend.
his top two choices?

or

all i could do what stare at him like a dead fish when he said red riding hood.
when i asked him why he said, "because it looks like a good movie okay?!"

uhhhh....

such strong letters...

and for those of you wondering,
'bh' stands for butt head.

Tuesday, January 25, 2011

this is for my parents.

b: dad are you stalking my blog?
d: yes, i have a lot of catching up to do.
b: weird...okay...
d: brissa, i want you to edit your last post.
b: what was my last post?
d: the one where you said you were pregnant.
b: but i'm not.  it's a joke.
d: people don't know that.
b: it's james freaking franco. it's not even possible for me to be pregnant with his baby!
d: change it.

this is me "changing it" to please my parents.
because i know mama would kill me too.
but you guys get it right?
you know i'm not actually with child.
you know it's just a silly little girl dream.
{because little girls often dream of being impregnated by hawt celebrities}
so just to clarify,
i am not pregnant with james franco's baby.
it's just a dream.
a dream that will one day become reality!

crap...i'll probably have to edit that part too...

my legs are cold.

my last postita about perfume shopping with my daddy made me think of a few things.
1. i want him to teach my future husband how to buy the following:
a. perfume
b. purses
c. jewelry
not joking kids, my dad is good as gold when it comes to that stuff.
he is proud when his "g" comes out.
and
2. when i went to new york the december of my sophomore year in high school
it was just daddy and me.
new york city in december quickly became my favorite.
i loved that no one ever slept.
i loved that daddy took me to saks fifth avenue
to perfume shop for mommy.
the light show that goes with these flakes was phenomenal.
i felt like such an adult.
alternating my sniffs between burberry, chanel, bulgari and coffee beans.
giving my opinion to the sales rep and my dad like i was some fancy pants.
i loved it when i was allowed to go explore the store.
i found the perfect shade of bright pink lip gloss
and coveted the scarves and clothes.
i was in heaven.
but my favorite part had to have been the tree.
it's really something you need to see to believe,
but trust me,
it's incredible.
jaw-dropping.
open-mouth drooling.
and word stopping.

eyez juss whanuh goez b@k.

numero cinco.

last night i went shopping with my papanuah.
we hit up ye'ole' department store to get
some fragrance and bling for momma.
we visited the fragrance department first.
ladies and gentlemen,
that is when i fell in love.
i fell into deep, deep love with
i turned to my daddy and quietly said:
"daddy, i want this.  i want this for my birthday."
he looked at me, laughed and said:
"maybe when you're older."
and the hip, gray-haired lady behind the counter agreed.
i guess i could see their logic.
i mean, when i sniffed that heavenly parfum
i saw black dresses, pearls and an evening at the theatre.
trust me, it's classy.
{look at me, saying "trust me" like i'm a veteran,
i'm sure you know what i'm smokin when it comes to no. 5}
back to my story.
while daddy was paying i heard a voice whisper
"hey, little girl"
i turned.
it was the fashionable perfume lady
{seriously, i want to have her short gray hair and incredible fashion sense at that age}.
she smiled at me, looked to make sure daddy's back was turned
and said as she bit the package open with her pearly whites:
"i found some samples!"
that's what i'm talking about!!!
homegirl hooked me up!
i am currently in olfactory heaven.
i'm also saving it for a special occasion.
i asked my dad when it would be appropriate for me to rock the no. 5.
he said when i was thirty.
i negotiated that he'd buy me some when i had my first baby.
i better get to work.

welcome back.

post edit:: freaking finally getting around to this.
..........................

i hope you each had a wonderful weekend.
mine was everything i hoped it would be.

friday = date night with my brother.
i called it the last supper.
the rolls lived up to all the hype.
"orgasmical."
we downed our salads and sides
{i got mashed potatoes. i think i'm obsessed},
took our roadkill steaks to go and went to go see the social network.
there were far too many "adults" present and
i don't think they understood half the jokes.

saturday = costco with madre, fader and the blexican.
i love the feeding frenzy that happens on saturday mornings.
oh and i finally got the new eyeballs i desperately needed.
p.s. CHRISTMAS IS OFFICIALLY IN COSTCO!!!
we went shoe shopping for mamacita.
i got the coooolest boccasins in the entire world.
boccasins = boot/moccasins.
they're tre comfy.
james and i stopped by my favorite deseret industries to get a fur coat
we also found THREE unicorn costumes.

krizzle and i helped get ashley ready for the big dance.
she looked HOTT.
watched  the {original} karate kid with papa + mami + jamie.
mr. miyagi is a scary drunk.

sunday = incredible.
i spent the first two hours of church in the nursery with mom.
i loved being with the little kids.
sunday afternoon was a really special time for my family.
i felt the Spirit so strongly.
mami and i talked a lot.
ash and i played dress up in her prom dresses.
dad called me weird {more than once}.
i continued on my battle to finish mockingjay.
left home and got back to provo.
had a rendezvous with the wolf-pack.
aahh wooooo.
introduced the joys of the best.corndog.ever to a cafe west virgin.

i hope you had a delightful weekend.
xoxo. brizzle

April 17.

You always know what to say to clear the fog and help me see again.
You help me believe.
You make me laugh.
