morse code.

sidenote:
prior to my asking
the reason behind the space spam,
he sent me 47 blank messages.
i thought my phone was breaking.
i can't believe he'll be twenty-one next week.
this is the future of this world.
heaven help us.

womp womp womp

sometimes baby brother thinks he's clever.
other times he thinks he's really clever
and i try to match it.
turns out i'm not as clever as i thought.
please don't tell me i'm the only one
who thought "prince whalebert" was a legitimate title.

in other news,
i'm over here talking about
how much i love hp and stachies.
you know, the usual.

a day in hefe

last week baby brother called me and told me to meet him at the mechanic.
el rojo broke down and he needed a ride home.
turns out he also needed a ride to every car dealership in the county.
let's take a moment and thank the heavens
i actually took the time and got ready that day.
even though jamie was adamant
we leave the house a-sap,
he was the one who ended up making me wait
in my car while he either ate/texted/fixed his hair.
as a result of this waiting,
i had a photo shoot with my ex-earring-turned-snitch.
first we had to stop and get the safety + emissions for carlos
at the main street shop.
the owner rides a horse to work and sits outside drinking coke all day.
he's got life figured out.
after the check up, the search began.
i met a few one genuine salesman and i was so happy
when i saw the stereotypical greasy haired sleazeball.
i'm not exaggerating, their hair was slicked like woah,
complete with bald patches shining through.
i tried to sneak a picture, but those sneaky little buggers
kept turning at the worst times.
after dad came home from work,
he and mom joined us for the auto search.
it was nice not to have to drive,
but leaving the dj'ing to dad was not.
all i wanted was a little boston
and the only thing he played was smooth jazz.
this future car owner never lost his cool.
he bargained and spoke with dealer after dealer.
here we see him sippin on some h2-izzity-oh
and pondering the amazing parties
that could be thrown inside a u-haul.
the possibilities are endless.
we literally car shopped all day.
like 11 in the am to 9:30 in the pm.
the only positive aspect of it was me learning
how to ask for and read
car facts like a boss.
please meet the muffler man.
he wished us luck and good prices
as he smiled down on us from above.
the setting sun shining through the windows
was a clear sign we were at the right place.
their exceptional water cooler
was also a sign.
not even kidding.
best.big.water.ever.
 behold,
brother's new ride.
i was only slightly jealous,
then i drove it.
smoothest.manual.ever.
gagagagaga.
can i haz it?

cherry red and rims that shine.

friday night jamie, scottland and i got rainbows
and decided to hit up the car show on main street.
it.was.heaven.
i don't know if you know this, but,
they're beautiful and were all over the place.
{i am currently kicking myself for not taking any pictures of them.}
jamie saw his dream car as well.
 a charger.
and no, this is not a staged picture.
he literally sat in the middle of the road
and gawked for a good five minutes.
scottopher saw a chrome car
and ordered me to take a picture of him with it.
my favorite part of this picture is how it looks as though
he's groping the headlight.
pervy mcgee.
we found a half-truck and scott said,
"brissa! i can totally see you driving this around provo."
then he ordered me to take a spicy picture with it.
i got nervous and lost my spice with so many people staring.
james decided to take it upon himself to teach me how to be spicy.
it didn't work....
apparently spicy for me means
not having a neck, squinting my right eye and sticking out my tongue.
i am honestly proud to say this is one of the ugliest pictures i've ever taken.
at least my loafers look good.
rawr
i found some of the best bumper stickers i'd ever seen.
the boys weren't as entertained as i was and left me with my treasures.
on our way back to the car we saw this.
this is a psa to the men of the world.
if your shorts are shorter than those of your lady friend,
maybe you shouldn't wear them.
in fact, you should burn them.
now.

pink on pink.

as i mentioned earlier,
on saturday james and i attended kelli's wedding.
this is what he wore.
when ayley saw him she said,
"you are a very well dressed boy."
in my mind i thought to say,
"and he's straight, too!"
but for some reason i didn't.
a few minutes later, jamie told me he had the same thought.
so i just wanted to take this time to publicly thank ayley
because if it weren't for her,
james wouldn't have become obsessed with creating his own blog
and ordered me to take pictures of his outfit for said blog.
it was the beeest.

overdue.

once upon a time i went to idaho.
while there, we had a little photo shoot.
mostly because my siblings have perfect faces
and i tend to get annoying when mom allows me to play with her camera.
oh, and consider this your official warning.
prepare for an image overload.
--------------------------------------
it's kind of disgusting how photogenic he is.
pondering the meaning of life in front of a brown canal
because she's cool like that.
the boxcar was my favorite part of the farm.
her legs are lit'rally a mile long.
we know. we measured.
here we see james talking with the cool kids {aka: parents},
as they plan a trip which excludes any and all children.
sometimes after an intense game of tag with little children,
and a deathly round of duck-duck-goose,
a cracker likes to nap.
every time i see this picture i start singing
oh edisonchen0904, you slay me.
i wish there was a way i could steal her hair
and put it on my head.
unfortunately, i do not believe in scalping family members.
aaaaand this is when i start to get annoying.
i believe they call this payback.
things to note.
1. james has a ridiculous obsession with the "zoom" button.
2. i feel like this picture makes my ears look elfish.
i would just like to take the time to let you know my ears are normal
and curve where they're supposed to.

oh the power of daniel tosh.

at 11:21 p.m. on saturday night
i sent james a text that simply read,
"tosh."
one minute later i heard him grumbling down the stairs saying,
"dangit brissa, i was preparing my lesson then i get a text
that just says 'tosh' and i had to quit and come down."

ultimate face palm.

"wait, judas is the one who cut off jesus' ear right?"
as soon as i said that beth and james just stared at me.
mouths hanging open, eyes bulging out of their sockets
and disbelief furrowing their brow.
i thought for sure i was right.
they messaged khyrie to have her mock me via text and this was her response,
"picasso cut off his ear. smarty."
{just a little fy-izzle, i knew it was van gough.}
we're definitely sisters.
i get the ear chopper mixed up and she gets a completey different century.
because i was so determined to believe jesus healed his own ear
it took james and beth ten minutes to teach me basic gospel.
i was set straight after half the people at the party
heard about my "theory."

much good that religious education has done me.

chronological order.

[10:13 am]
every member of my family came to wake me up one at a time.
ashley came to steal my pizzle to play games.
mom clawed scratched my back lovingly.
james yelled my name.
dad bounced my bed and screamed "earthquake!!"
it was like the ultimate high school flashback.
[11:07 am]
ash had a regional basketball game.
they dominated 36 - 10 with only five girls.
while they dominated on the court we had a gangsta photoshoot.
mom did not approve.
instead of flashing gang signs for fear of being hunted down and jumped,
she went with the always classy miss america wave.
[11:41 am]
at this point in the game we started yelling out things like,
"get a touchdown!" "gooooaallll!" "get it in the pipes!"
"come on!! give us a hat trick!" and "homerun!"
we were definitely the loudest people there.
[11:57 am]
jamie introduced me to our new best friend.
it's like a cross between Jesus and Joseph Smith.
weird.
[12:03 am]
while ashley and i waited outside for mom, dad and james to stop socializing,
a father of a girl on the other team came out, congratulated ashley and said,
"you guys did great. you'll probably take it all."
to which she laughed and said, "we can only hope."
what the cocky?!
[12:07 pm]
the "adults" stopped talking and we headed home.
dad told me to never get old because getting old sucks.
jamie and i started singing cute is what we aim for songs.
[12:13pm]
ashley dominated at wii bowing
and james cleaned out at wii golf.
dad did pretty well on solitaire.
i love my house on saturday mornings.

wise words from a future meat-head.

**please excuse that dramatics that are about to ensue**

last week i wrote the following in a letter to my brother:
"i wish my life could fall perfectly into place. i feel like i'm watching everyone else's universe cradle them into a perfect life.
i can't help but feel mine is out to get me. it's hard to be happy when your heart is crying inside."
then i apologized for my dramatics, told him my article made front page
and gave him spanish tongue twisters.

he replied with some of the best advice i've ever received.
"sister, don't stress, life is hard for a reason. God wants us to better ourselves. how can we improve if we don't have trials in life? something i learn every day on the mission is that we should be grateful for EVERY problem we have in life. this means that God is trying to help us to better ourselves. He is trying to help us progress in life. don't fret. stop feeling insecure. FRONT PAGE! name every one of your blessings and you will see everything you should be grateful for. well, for what it's worth, that's my advice."
it was exactly what i needed to hear.
amazing isn't it?
how family always seems to know just what to say, how to say it
and how to make you feel loved no matter how far they are.

this morning i sent mami a text saying i made front again.
within two minutes i got a call from jamie.
"brissa! that's awesome! remember how in your last letter you said you were watching everyone's lives fall into place and you wished that would happen with you? well, look. what do you want to do with your life? and now you've had two articles on front. see?! you just gotta look at the small things.
well, i gotta go work out now so i can get big muscles. love ya."

oh how i love iron-pumping brownie.

my cheeks hurt from smiling.

yesterday was hectic.
i wrote two articles in an hour,
finished up an audio news story in two
and went home to eat my first meal of the day
 at 3:56 in the afternoon.
then i had to study.study.study for my media law midterm.
i took a power nap that really only lasted twenty minutes.
it.was.glorious.
i survived my midterm and walked away fairly confident.
then i hopped in my car and drove home.
all the way home.
care to know why?
okay.
it's because this face
this sweet, sweet face came home.
granted, it's not the happiest of circumstances,
{his foot is messed and the physical therapy down in mexico is not cutting it. there is a chance he might need surgery but hopefully some intense rounds of physical therapy and rest will make him good as new so he can get back out.}
but it's still good.
hearing his voice, hugging him, sitting next to him at the dinner table,
laughing with him, looking at mission pictures, just talking with him
was so.good.
it's quite surreal.
it felt like i was dreaming.
it felt like the best dream ever.

everybody's gonna love today.

my eight a.m. class was cancelled.
the weather is perfect.
i'm wearing a dress and a cardigan and couldn't be happier.
i just had a dear friend bring me a rose and a note.
i read my little brother's email and he sent me my own personal message.
"hey sister...soul sister. i love you too."
what a kid.
his strength and testimony inspire me everyday.
little messages and short phone calls have made my day.
i feel loved.
genuinely, truly and completely loved.
i hope you feel and know you are loved.
it's one of the most comforting feelings in the world.
three cheers for family and friends and a beautiful day!

little ray of sunshine.

this little bundle of joy is my brother.
he loves yard work.
i just wanted to tell you that we're making him viral.
so far i have thirteen friends who have made this their profile picture.
and those thirteen friends are getting their friends to change their pictures.
he's like the mexican version of jimmer
if james weren't on a mission right now he'd be so mad.
mwahahahaha.
