reasons i know it's going to be a good weekend.

i can't stop smiling.

the weather is supposed to be
sunny and warm-ish.

last night my baby sister texted me
and confessed her love for the biebs.
mission accomplished.

yesterday was the best day.
and everyone knows if your thursday is good,
your weekend is going to be even better.

i'm only working a half-day today.
i'm going home at noon and hitting up
the new fancypants mall with my bff jill.

the first notification i saw when i checked facebook this morning,
was this incredible video from kelli.

bless you, kelli.
bless you.

wonder how fish don't die of heart attacks
when forced to live with such monsters.
drive through childhood neighborhoods to kill time.

i found this shirt while shopping with khyrie.
it's discovery made my love for forever xxi grow tenfold.

brutal honesty from a high school junior.

friday night, i stood huddled with my family around the community desktop
i turned to james and said,
"next year, we're auditioning for american idol."
as soon as i finished my sentence, ashley whipped her head toward me
and started laughing so hard her face turned red and she stopped breathing.
i think i saw a tear or two escape her eye.
talk about the worst reality check ever.
i guess i'm more tone-deaf than i thought...

chronological order.

[10:13 am]
every member of my family came to wake me up one at a time.
ashley came to steal my pizzle to play games.
mom clawed scratched my back lovingly.
james yelled my name.
dad bounced my bed and screamed "earthquake!!"
it was like the ultimate high school flashback.
[11:07 am]
ash had a regional basketball game.
they dominated 36 - 10 with only five girls.
while they dominated on the court we had a gangsta photoshoot.
mom did not approve.
instead of flashing gang signs for fear of being hunted down and jumped,
she went with the always classy miss america wave.
[11:41 am]
at this point in the game we started yelling out things like,
"get a touchdown!" "gooooaallll!" "get it in the pipes!"
"come on!! give us a hat trick!" and "homerun!"
we were definitely the loudest people there.
[11:57 am]
jamie introduced me to our new best friend.
it's like a cross between Jesus and Joseph Smith.
weird.
[12:03 am]
while ashley and i waited outside for mom, dad and james to stop socializing,
a father of a girl on the other team came out, congratulated ashley and said,
"you guys did great. you'll probably take it all."
to which she laughed and said, "we can only hope."
what the cocky?!
[12:07 pm]
the "adults" stopped talking and we headed home.
dad told me to never get old because getting old sucks.
jamie and i started singing cute is what we aim for songs.
[12:13pm]
ashley dominated at wii bowing
and james cleaned out at wii golf.
dad did pretty well on solitaire.
i love my house on saturday mornings.

my cheeks hurt from smiling.

yesterday was hectic.
i wrote two articles in an hour,
finished up an audio news story in two
and went home to eat my first meal of the day
 at 3:56 in the afternoon.
then i had to study.study.study for my media law midterm.
i took a power nap that really only lasted twenty minutes.
it.was.glorious.
i survived my midterm and walked away fairly confident.
then i hopped in my car and drove home.
all the way home.
care to know why?
okay.
it's because this face
this sweet, sweet face came home.
granted, it's not the happiest of circumstances,
{his foot is messed and the physical therapy down in mexico is not cutting it. there is a chance he might need surgery but hopefully some intense rounds of physical therapy and rest will make him good as new so he can get back out.}
but it's still good.
hearing his voice, hugging him, sitting next to him at the dinner table,
laughing with him, looking at mission pictures, just talking with him
was so.good.
it's quite surreal.
it felt like i was dreaming.
it felt like the best dream ever.

little sunbeams.

tonight i needed home.
i needed it so badly.
i wanted to go.
leave and never come back.
thinking this would make everything better.
making myself believe the four walls and roof i call home
filled with the people who unconditionally love me would cure my heart hurt.
but while i was writing jamie i realized no matter where i run,
my troubles will chase me.
i can't run.
i have to face life.
i am so grateful for technology
and the comfort of knowing my parents are one dial away.
their words calmed my troubled heart,
replaced the frown on my heart with a smile
and dried my tears with the promise of a new day.

double layer fleece blanket.

after taking three finals in one day,
being stuck in traffic for a lot longer that i'd have liked
and not getting more than eight hours of sleep in a 72-hour period,
i'm home.
i'm home and i'm happy.
right now i'm lying in my bed in my mami's study.
i lost my room four years ago to my baby sister.
my national geographic cut-outs and dream collages
have been replaced with jonas brothers posters and rough pencil drawings.
i can hear mom and dad downstairs
speaking spanglish and preparing for our family christmas party.
yesterday i woke up at 11:39 to two tragic text messages
about the provo tabernacle.
i ate lucky charms for breakfast and spent the entire day,
well, until 3:17,
sitting on the couch with my mom.
we each had our own fleece blanket and couch.
we just sat there,
looked at each other and talked.
it was golden.
i miss my mommy talks.
she's kiiind of my best friend.
i miss her when i'm gone.
but now i'm home
and it's good.

a few matters of business.

ignore the fact that this will be my fourth post of the day...
ahem.
back to business.
i just got the following picture messages from james and ashley.
yes, for those of you wondering, this is a fire.
a real life mountain fire.
behind/to the left of my house.
don't worry, my house is not the main focus of the first picture.
{it's actually the house straight up the hill, with the long green lawn in view}
but still....it's too close.
this is the second fire we've had near our home.
last time i was in high school.
the smoke was black and filled the air.
i remember hanging out with the news crew.
colton got the reporter crushed ice.
we thought we were legit.
but i was scared.
i'm still scared.
it doesn't look too big though.
but fire spreads.
fast.
like an std in a whore house.
sorry.
too much?
oh well...
is it inappropriate after that comment to ask for prayers that everyone affected by this
and all the fires/natural disasters around this world be safe and protected?
either way...
they're appreciated.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
oh...and the other matter of business just seems silly now.
i just wanted to show you what i fell in love with.
here you go.
almost every single one of them.
except for the little, weird bracelet ones.

update.

I am home.  It is so soo good.

Last night I was super cool and fell asleep at 8:30 in the pee.emm.
I woke up at 9:56 this morning.
Sleep is a luxury.
               a long lost friend.
               beautiful.
               mmm....mmmm....good!

I've been catching up on things like: music, {fun. Nate Ruess, I like it when your voice makes new music.  But don't worry, I still like your old music too} reading, {National Geographic}, movies, {watched the Bucket List tonight and I enjoyed it} and blogging and what not.
Sorry I haven't written in far too many moons,I pink swear to be better.

Anyway...I just thought I'd say hello, so....
hello.
i've missed you.
goodbye.

mi casa es su casa

Sometimes I don't realize how much I truly miss my home until I return after being gone for a while.  I'm sitting in the study, on the patterned gray chair listening to my dad talk about the illustrative sentences he uses in his blog {my dad blogs...weird.}.  I missed this house.  I missed the pale green walls of this study cluttered with bookshelves that hold novels, dictionaries, study manuals and the occasional glue stick.
I don't think I can truly express how incredible I felt when I opened the door, climbed up the stairs and heard Ashley yell, "BUBBA!!!!  NO!  I get her first!" as she charged at me with open arms.  I love surprise attacking my family like that.  This was one of my few successful times.  I even got Daddy.  {finally}
I missed the sights, the scents, the noises.  It's like Christmas Day for my senses right now.  Pure joy.
This is my home.
It doesn't matter where life will take me in the future.
This is where my heart will always be.

hahaha...Dad just told me my background was "the most homosexual thing" he has ever seen.
Yep...I definitely missed this.
