wise words from a future meat-head.

**please excuse that dramatics that are about to ensue**

last week i wrote the following in a letter to my brother:
"i wish my life could fall perfectly into place. i feel like i'm watching everyone else's universe cradle them into a perfect life.
i can't help but feel mine is out to get me. it's hard to be happy when your heart is crying inside."
then i apologized for my dramatics, told him my article made front page
and gave him spanish tongue twisters.

he replied with some of the best advice i've ever received.
"sister, don't stress, life is hard for a reason. God wants us to better ourselves. how can we improve if we don't have trials in life? something i learn every day on the mission is that we should be grateful for EVERY problem we have in life. this means that God is trying to help us to better ourselves. He is trying to help us progress in life. don't fret. stop feeling insecure. FRONT PAGE! name every one of your blessings and you will see everything you should be grateful for. well, for what it's worth, that's my advice."
it was exactly what i needed to hear.
amazing isn't it?
how family always seems to know just what to say, how to say it
and how to make you feel loved no matter how far they are.

this morning i sent mami a text saying i made front again.
within two minutes i got a call from jamie.
"brissa! that's awesome! remember how in your last letter you said you were watching everyone's lives fall into place and you wished that would happen with you? well, look. what do you want to do with your life? and now you've had two articles on front. see?! you just gotta look at the small things.
well, i gotta go work out now so i can get big muscles. love ya."

oh how i love iron-pumping brownie.

my deepest apologies

but today is a mellow sort of day.
one where i find myself caught up and lost in the mazes of my mind.
a map is needed in order to exit.
but i'd rather not have one.
i like being lost in these walls.
thinking. hoping. dreaming. fearing.
sometimes i scare myself.
i raise my own hopes and kill them.
it's not always safe in this mind maze.
but since i'm the only one here,
my cries for help are unheard.
but my cries tend to be whispers.
little secrets only for me.
but if you'd like.
i'd be willing to let you hear those secrets.
i'd let you help me find my way out.
but i'm scared to let you in.
