life is a natural beauty.

instagram is so addicting
that i sometimes forget how amazing life looks
without being nashvilled to pieces.
it's magical.

<<>><<>><<>><<>><<>><<>><<>><<>><<>><<>><<>>

late night drives and foggy "help me!" messages.
strawberry babies growing at work.
windows down + sunroof open = golden
spring is coming.
summer is almost here.
i can't wait.

read for its truth.
read for the reminder.
read for the assurance.
read for the discovery.
you are a diamond.

happy friday children.

what i learned during my three day stint on a boat.

  1. twizzlers in a warm car smell like puke.
  2. never take your chapstick on a boat unless it's in a ziploc baggie or lake water will keep coming out of it for days.
  3. being afraid of heights and climbing up a giant sand hill only to realize you have to run down it at full speed is not smart.  unless falling down five times (either purposefully or accidentally) sounds like fun.
  4. gorp is golden.
  5. beth is the female fredette.
  6. whenever playing p-i-g always go after dan.
  7. speed scrabble is stressful and worth every random letter.
  8. bathing in a lake is an experience everyone should have. it's amazing.
  9. i need a hybrid.  we only filled up once the entire trip. it cost thirty dollars.
  10. water fights between two boats in a channel are beyond intense and worth every bruise you get.
  11. riddles and brain games should warrant a college degree. i'd have a doctorate.
  12. do you know the petals around the rose?
  13. greed/zilch is far too intense to be a simple dice game.
  14. the name of the game is snaps.  snaps is the name of the game.
  15. pizza named after andy warhol and harry potter discussions in the night air are priceless.
  16. when you get slap happy at eleven p.m. you know you're tired.
  17. there is nothing better than gliding on water*.  nothing.
*please keep in mind it was my first time ever on a wakeboard, and i only got up four times and stayed up for three-four seconds at most, but it was amazing and enough to get me hooked.
  18. gas stations in fillmore like to play classics like bbmak's back here.
  19. not having a cellphone for four days is a breath of fresh air.
  20. nothing beats the adrenaline rush you get jumping from tube to tube during your first tube war battle.
  21. sometimes a throwback to high school music is necessary: yellowcard, simple plan, green day, mika.
  22. i want to dry my hair while sitting on the front of a boat every day.
  23. when the boys were in charge of picking music they selected the following: the click five, the moulin rouge soundtrack and sarah bareilles.
  24. decision making was finally achieved.
  25. unknown is not worth your time. truuuuuust me.
  26. lake powell is one of the most beautiful places i have ever seen.
  27. hiking and climbing up rocks then jumping off a house boat is the only way to go.
  28. next time, when standing on the edge of a "mini" cliff, just jump. waiting only increases anxiety.
  29. i never want to wear pants again.
  30. costume ideas cemented and harry potter plans set. let the party begin.
  31. apparently saying "duplicates" or "multiples" when referring to twins is unacceptable.
  32. i never want to get ready for the day ever again.
  33. i have the greatest friends ever.
  34. as much as i love being able to talk to my family and shower in hot water, i wish i never had to leave.
once again, i apologize for the lack of photographic evidence,
but life was too good for those four days to stop and snap a moment.

i'm back and not quite black,
but brown is good enough for me.

blue skies and green fields

last week,
lillie and i went for a ride along the river trail
and ended up at the lake.
at the beginning of the ride i decided to take off my shoes because
"today is too beautiful to wear shoes."
i was right.
it was.
thanks to the abundant rainfall this year,
two areas of the trail were full of water.
riding through the puddles barefoot was incredible.
after the second "river" we saw this bad boy.
behold,
the rusted fire hydrant.
i should apologize for not taking more pictures during this glorious ride,
but i'm not sorry so it would be a lie.
sometimes life is too beautiful to stop and document.

cruising down center

last week, i rode penelope to the bike shop
for some free handlebar tightening.
instead of pedaling back to the initiative,
{i call my complex 'the dharma initiative' because of how eerily similar they are}
i decided to go for a ride downtown.
it was magical.
the sun was shining,
the streets were bustling
and bright eyes was the soundtrack.
i felt like i was on the set of a fifties movie.
i rode to the library and picked up some books.
i am slowly falling in love with jack kerouac
as i read on the road and it makes me yearn for adventure.
i want to visit the unknown and meet strangers
who enter my life for a brief moment
and change it forever.

everything about this is good.

three cheers to mandy for posting this nugget of gold.
it's amazing.
i now want my babies to wear short shorts and breakdance.

going home roxx when you

hit up the five-star mcdonald's for 99 cent cones.
play with puppies at petsmart.
wonder how fish don't die of heart attacks
when forced to live with such monsters.
drive through childhood neighborhoods to kill time.

you're the best kind of wannabe i've ever seen

last night my friends came in from the city
with a craving for happy sumo.
confession: "the city" =  salt lake, which isn't that far.
and technically, i live in a city, i just wanted to sound fancy...
sooo we went.
unfortunately everything in this "city" closes ridiculously early
and when we arrived at 9:33 we were turned away
for missing the 9:30 closing time.
heart broken, we left stupid sushi.
{cue miracle}
in the middle of my tears,
i heard the most magical of songs.
the sexy sax man song.
i turned in hopes of seeing
sergio flores in the flesh.
my eyes searched high and low
but they did not find a half naked man with a mullet
and glorious saxy stache.
instead, i saw a high school boy with a saxaphone
strapped 'round his neck playing and thrusting at a group of girls
eventually singling one out and  thrust-playing for only her.
it was amazing.

thank you sexy sax man impersonator,
because of you
my faith in the future of this generation
has been restored.

viva le sax!

rupert can have my heart.

praise goes to kate & brooke for linking this up
and causing me to get addicted.
can't.stop.watching.
but i find this video gives me mixed emotions.
as much as i can't wait for part two,
i'm not ready to say goodbye.
i guess that's life.

how adorable is mr. grint?
sexiest ginger ever.

still strong.

have i ever told you kids
about the time
i was obsessed with
everything dawn kinnard?
i'm thinking this obsession
began winter semester of my freshman year
and hasn't ever stopped.
there's something about the rasp in her voice.
it tells a story no other voice could.
when i discovered that beautifully haunting voice
paired up with one of my personal favorites
for a duet,
i about died.
the way their voices weave in and out of each other,
the way they blend perfectly
and the passion in their performance
is truly mesmerizing.

leaves me speechless every time.

hi.bheg.ov.jew.

please, please, please
tell me there are still people out there
who remember what life was like before
youtube and facebook and hulu.
when
stupidvideos was king,
myspace was the network
and alluc offered thousands of pirated shows to watch.
life was simpler back then.
granted, i'm grateful for the change
in social networking sites,
but those sites = high school.
those sites are nights i would stay up late
to "study for ap american"
while finding new videos and laughing at classics with khyrie.
they remind me of catching up on every
episode of antm and one tree hill ever made.
changing my background and profile song
from this which got mister hipster interested,
to this just because i liked it,
and to this favorite
which also turned out to be the same song
on "wispy's" profile.
clearly, musical choices on a myspace profile
do not ensure your eternal happiness with a man.

moral of the story:
while i miss my friends, the concerts and freedom of youth,
i would never in a million years go back to the
awkward interactions with boys,
self-consciousness and
"high school" skin
to get it back.
e.v.e.r.

life was good then
and life is good now.
best box of chocolates i've ever had.

like a loaded potato, but with words.

friday.
my broken toes and i went to my cousin's wedding
in five inch heels and my yellow dress.
ashley, beth and jamie's date were the only blonde's there.
'twas quite comical.
aside from dancing and watching a very enthusiastic
white man dance an energetic salsa,
we ate delicious food and sipped on
what may just be the best drank ever.
i must regrettably admit i am not sporting a double black eye in the photo above.
the stupid lights made me appear to be more legit than i am.
but one day people...one day i will rock the black eye like nobody's biznass.
after the reception,
we headed over to target so i could buy baby clothes
for my bff's baby shower the next day.
it was then i realized the fullness of my disease.
 it's official.
baby sections in any store are harmful to my health.
{iwantababy.iwantonelikewoah.}
 saturday.
i finished bossypants.
it was brilliant.
i love tina fey more than words can express.
later that afternoon i went to sid's baby shower.
i won a lint roller and a pack of m&m's.
i gave the chocolate covered candies
to bethie and scottopher when i got home.
we spent the better part of an hour
in the same room, playing games on our pizzles
and speaking to or about our games.
i introduced scott to galaxy puzzle and bubble shooter;
two of what i thought to be the best games ever.
boooy was i wrong.
he introduced me to
 best.game.ever.
i can honestly say it has been the best 99 cents i have ever spent.
we went to jimmy john's with bree
and i wanted to slap my face for never trying their sandwiches before.
sogood.
after supper we headed back to bree's
so i could use free wifi to download tiny wings
while beth and bree painted their nails.
after waiting for hot pink paint to dry
we sped over to dan and craig's
for the maiden voyage of their new projector.
we thought we were going to watch
diary of a wimpy kid
but instead, they popped in
this bad boy.
it's even better the second time around.
after the movie,
beth, scott, bree and i went to coldstone.
scott ordered oatmeal cookie batter, cookie dough and cinnamon.
when i first heard that combination i grimaced.
then i tried it and
mama mia, that's-a-good-a-flavor!
 sunday.
after a free lunch with delicious strawberries
we laid out to read play tiny wings.
i looked up in the middle of my game
to see weezy walking toward us.
we chatted for a good while and caught up on life.
after some more sunshine loving and tiny winging,
beth and i made dinner for some friends.
fyi world:
crissa makes the best desserts ever.
beth, bree and i went for a post-dinner bike/scooter ride
around the town.
after being followed around the library by a homeless man,
we rode to our hearts content in the maze that is
underground parking.

sslbijhtdhamww.
{sorry so long, but i just had to document how awesome my weekend was}

solemn pledge.

today i pledge to ignore school.
i promise not to open a book or look at my schedule.
i will not stress about finals or projects.
i refuse to study and let the day pass.

instead, i will clean my room.
i will sift through my belongings and begin packing.
i will make my bed and catch up on my thursday shows.
i will open my window and blast my music while the sun streams in.
i will paint my nails red and curl my hair for a party.
i will watch dead poet's society while eating string cheese.
and then i think i'll listen to some fotc*.

ca-chiiiiing!

i love when i get texts that say,
"what are you doing?
i want to do a little spring shopping.

we went. we bought. we conquered.
oh and just an fyi, forever xxi has the best shirts right now.
mexi loved the "yo amo tacos" shirt
and i fell in love with the captain kitty number.
{and by love i mean l-o-v-e. i am seriously considering going back to buy it.}
mal bought the.coolest.shorts.ever.
they belong on a beach cruiser.
i bought some tops i thought i loved
but i didn't know true love until i laid eyes on these beautiful things.
dear embellished tank, creme blazer and grey cardigan:
i'm sorry i forgot about you.
but please understand you're going to be on the back burner for a bit
while i plan outfits to wear with the sexiest party rock shoes ever.
thanks for being so cool about it.
xoxo.

raynebeaux

when i went home a few weeks ago,
the old gang decided to get together
and hit up our local/favorite pace's dairy ann.
if you ever find  yourself in bountiful, you have to promise to stop and get a rainbow.
they're that amazing.
i only got a few pictures because we were too busy gawking
at the awkward high school kids who were dressed up for a dance
and the skankatrons with possible butt implants.
the highlight of the night was when we bust out singing
people tried so hard not to stare.
the second best part was when everyone went quiet for weezy's break down
and i was the only one still singing.
by this point, i was so wrapped up in the song
 i switched into a weezy-esque voice and
i hadn't noticed everyone had stopped singing
until i opened my eyes, found them all staring at me.
then we laughed.
we left while i serenaded "puppy love" to the children in the booths
and there may have been some hip-thrust-walking taking place.
we finished the night in my basement.
in our usual spots.
with our usual jokes.
just like the good ol' days.
i love how some things never change.

Saturday, March 26, 2011

oh don't worry

we just threw the best party known to man.
ca-ching!!

Friday, March 25, 2011

reasons i love today.

teal nail polish with a glitter topcoat.
it's like a party every time i look at my hands.
wearing purple tights, a mustard skirt and my gray sweater
with a high bun makes me feel like a ballet instructor.
this bumper sticker reminded me of my friend gordy.
"is your daddy a cattle rancher? because you got some nice calves."
two of my articles got in the paper.

oh, this weekend is gonna be good.

Wednesday, March 23, 2011

ooo ooooohhh!

remember how this time last year
i couldn't stop singing this sucker?
how it was like a drug
that seriously made me high?
well...
i found a new drug to hook myself on
and yes, the reaction is still the same.
instant smiles, feet dancing and booty shaking.
i think my roommates are going to start hating me.
if i'm not blasting this song i'm singing it at the top of my lungs.
ooooooh it's sooooooo good.
thank you cee-lo.
