two hours a week.

last night was the second night of my community photography class. i'm sure there's a more eloquent way to say this, but it was just so great. despite taking a few photography classes in college, i never learned how to shoot in manual. this class is helping me with that and i'm really pumped about it. it has been so nice to take off my mom pants for a few hours and just be brissa. it's nice to talk to other adults and even make some new friends. even if we did bond over having two babies really close together. you can take the lady out of the mom pants, but you can't take the mom pants out of the lady. yaknowwhatimeeean?

i love being a mom and i'm completely sincere when i say it fills my ice cream cup past the top with vanilla. but these extra things, like a photography class or doing some freelance writing for a company (!!!) are like the hot fudge and cherry on top. you can live your life with just a cup of vanilla and be completely happy, but if you had the chance to add a few things to make your cup a little better, why wouldn't you? i know these opportunities will help make me a better person and a better mom. i hope my babies can see that i never stopped learning or trying or chasing after a dream. i know there will be seasons in life where all i can handle is being a mom, so i'm taking advantage of this time and allowing myself to focus on me for a bit.

my heart is full and my cup runneth over with the hottest fudge.
life is good.
life is just so, so good.

You're in a photography class?!?!? Why are you so cool? I love that and I love reading your blog again. This is one of the things I missed most in DC. Those kids of yours struck gold in the mom department.

I'm just so happy for you. Two hours may not seen like much to some, but it's a bid deal in the mom department. I have such a hard time leaving my kids but seeing you take that time for yourself to develop your skills and talents and just have a breather inspires me to do it more. I love you and your mom pants!

I love that you're doing these things for yourself! It gives me hope that maybe I'll be able to keep some of my hobbies once I have kids? Also, community photography class? Can you tell us more about how this came to pass? Because I want something like that! It's so hard to find someone to teach you who isn't a jerk or charges way too much. And freelance writing? That sounds SO sophisticated and exciting!
